A: The book started shipping May 27th. Please see the shipping status page for the latest update on which orders have been shipped.
A: Our new e-commerce solution offers USPS as well as UPS shipping options. We have a fairly limited set of shipping options due to the complexity of supporting multiple priority shipping accounts. We apologize for the inconvenience.
A: The book may eventually be offered in e-Book format, but for the next few months, it will only be available in print. Part of the reason for this decision is that the rights and freedoms associated with free speech through real bound, paper-and-glue books is well understood by the US court system and lawmakers. e-Book format, despite its convenience and identical information content, is not as legitimate in some court's eyes. Once the dust has settled, I may release an e-Book format for purchase.
A: A Creative Commons license is kind of like the analog of "GPL" for non-software copyrighted works. The specific license I provide to readers is an attribution, non-commercial, share-alike license. In other words, you can make non-commercial copies of portions of the work and create derivative works, among other things, so long as I am attributed and so long as you apply the same license to your work. The idea is that if people want to contribute to the book and extend the material in it, they can. They can even repackage the book with their new material and redistribute, so long as it is not commercialized or sold. If people want to quote portions of the text, or use the photos in a presentation, they are free to do so without having to explicitly ask me for permission, as long as the conditions of the license (attribution, non-commercial and share-alike) are obeyed. Basically, the license gives some essential "fair-use" rights explicitly to the readers up-front, without turning the work over to the public domain.
A: Since the book has a definite ship-date, you will be billed when your pre-order or order is placed.
A: "Hacking the Xbox" is now available through Amazon.com as well as this website. IMPORTANT: all those who placed an order through Amazon.com before 6/7 ordered Wiley's pre-print edition. That book was cancelled by Wiley and you should have received a cancellation notice about that. If you wish to order through Amazon, please place your order again for this version of the book at the Amazon.com website, using the updated book listing. I know this sounds silly, but that is the way Amazon works. You should use Xenatera LLC's website (the website you are currently browsing) to order if you have any special requests of the author--signings, special handling, etc.
A: Xenatera Press now supports overseas ordering and shipping. In most cases, a single book is not dutiable and should have no issues with customs. However, if you are aware of any customs issues unique to your country, we would appreciate a note about it in the comments section of the order form. Note that we are unable to ship books to a few countries, including those with US trade embargos.
A: Contact firstname.lastname@example.org with a description of the problem, and we will coordinate sending you a new book free of charge via USPS parcel post shipping (roughly 8 days transit time). Expedited shipping services would be billed to you. We will send you a pre-paid envelope for the return of the damaged book. If the damaged book is not received within thirty days, your credit card will be charged for a second book.
A: Yes, there is a discount for bulk orders. The discount depends upon the quantity ordered. Please email email@example.com with a detailed description of your request, including quantity and delivery requirements.
A: The information Xenatera Press collects during the billing process is required by the credit card companies for charge verification. It is collected for your protection and will never be distributed or resold. In addition, Xenatera Press will only use email and phone contact information for order verification and notification, if necessary. Orders deemed as high-risk for fraud or with incomplete information may be subject to additional verification; we appreciate your cooperation. Again, you will not receive any spam mail or notifications not directly related to processing your order.
A: Please contact the author, firstname.lastname@example.org, for any press-related inquiries.
